Book Review: Calvin Trillin’s Thoroughly Great ‘The Lede’

I like the stories about how media used to be. Calvin Trillin has been at it since the 1950s, which means his book, ‘The Lede’, is full of old columns by him remembering the massive expense accounts of old, the characters who spent the money, along with great stories about the people writing the stories. This was a really fun read.

Yet Another Attempt To Make Sense of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s ‘The Brothers Karamazov’

As always, what’s the point of trying to get through the long Russian novels without writing out the alleged insights? The Brothers Karamazov was much more difficult to follow than Crime and Punishment, which means it requires another read that I probably won’t get around to.
